Stronghold Token (SHX) is a digital currency that aims to provide fast, secure, and accessible financial services for all. It is a part of Stronghold's expanding payments ecosystem, where it serves as a building block with real-world purpose. SHX is built on the Stellar network, one of the most energy-efficient blockchain networks, using the Stellar Consensus Protocol (SCP), a low-energy consensus mechanism achieved through Proof-of-Agreement (PoA). This makes SHX a climate-friendly cryptocurrency that saves energy with each transaction. SHX is not just a token that holds value, it strives to generate it.

SHX operates within the Stronghold ecosystem, providing real-time settlement, discounts in fees for business customers, rewards, and merchant financial support through decentralized finance. It is available on both Stellar and Ethereum networks, enabling cross-ledger value transfers. SHX also plays a role in Stronghold's governance, with token holders having the ability to vote on network features and implementations based on the amount of SHX they hold. Furthermore, SHX liquidity pools strive to increase resources in Stronghold’s Merchant Financing lending protocol.

The token was released to Stronghold's early user base at the end of 2018, with approximately 5% of the total supply distributed to users. No public sale events have been conducted for SHX. The maximum supply of SHX is fixed at 100,000,000,000 and will not be increased. Since its inception, SHX has been integrated into the Stronghold ecosystem, serving as a key component in its expanding payments network.
