Frequently asked questions

Are Coinbase internships paid?

Absolutely. In addition to receiving a competitive wage, interns are often also eligible for various stipends and reimbursements to cover costs such as housing (for those who relocate temporarily), and social connection activities with Coinbase colleagues.

When can I apply?

You can apply as soon as a job posting is live. Postings are added on a rolling basis as roles become available. Visit our Open roles often to see the latest positions.

How long are internships and when do they start?

Internships are typically 12 weeks and start during summer break. We offer two start dates to accommodate students on either a quarter or semester system.

Are internships remote or hybrid?

We have both hybrid and remote internship opportunities. Check with your recruiter to confirm where your internship might be located. No matter whether you’re remote or hybrid, you’ll get our comprehensive IT kit with everything you’ll need to work efficiently and comfortably from anywhere. For interns required to work in office, you’ll get a housing stipend to offset any temporary relocation costs. For interns permitted to work fully remote, Coinbase typically organizes one or more trips to an office to build in-person relationships.

What is the interview process like?

The interview process is as rigorous for Coinbase interns as it is for all our hires. The exact process will vary by team and role, but it typically includes several stages, often starting with an online assessment, followed by a recruiter screen. Stellar candidates are then invited to complete skills-based interviews with potential team members. Chat with your recruiter to learn more about the specific interview process for your role.

Who can apply?

The Intern Program is open to all students, non-students and graduates regardless of age. We welcome candidates exploring a second career and/or candidates who returned to school to apply. Additionally, you must be living in and authorized to do work in a country where Coinbase has employees or you must seek and be approved for visa sponsorship. See FAQ about visa sponsorship to learn more.

Does Coinbase sponsor visas for international candidates?

Yes, Coinbase offers visa sponsorships for international candidates living in the United States and for Canadian citizens who are currently residing in Canada. Sponsorship is subject to approval and, if granted, is for the duration of the internship only. If you are seeking visa sponsorship, please inform your recruiter immediately to ensure they submit a visa assessment for approval as soon as possible.
