Radix was founded by Dan Hughes, a UK-based developer who discovered Bitcoin in 2012. After a year of researching Bitcoin, Hughes started eMunie, which was later renamed Radix, in 2013. Over the next five years, Hughes focused on solving scalability issues, inventing and testing multiple consensus architectures. In 2017, Piers Ridyard joined as CEO, and the project was renamed Radix. The breakthrough of Cerberus in 2020 led to the creation of the world's first cross-shard atomically composable consensus protocol. The first iteration of the Radix Public Network, "Olympia", went live in July 2021. The Radix ecosystem of dApps has continued to develop since then, offering innovative new Web3 and DeFi products.
